AdDOC #2 - #amIwrong?
The second edition of the AdDOC festival is about to begin! AdDOC is Romania’s only documentary film festival organized in high schools all across the country, by the high school students themselves.
This year's festival seeks to raise awareness on a an important contemporary issue, which is oftentimes treated as a taboo: namely, the subject of violence, in its many forms. Under the #amIwrong? motto, this edition will focus on topics such as bullying, domestic violence and violence in society, with a selection of six international films dealing with these themes.
The three sections of the festival tried to discover the sources of these phenomena - family (house, or home?), school (educated, or underestimated?) and society (sure, or safe?). High schools from cities such as Bucharest, Craiova, Turnu Magurele, Constanta, Blaj, Piatra-Neamt, Targu Mures and Pitesti took part in the second edition - # amIwrong?.
At the initiative of students and teachers, this year we wanted to create a context where we can discuss issues such as bullying and violence. In an intensive three-day workshop, 22 students across the country decided upon the visual identity of this year’s edition of the festival, along with the selection and the festival’s brochure. 45 screenings are planned in 27 high schools in twenty cities for the next two weeks, with more than 2,000 students and teachers expected at the events included in the festival.
Based on an idea of the One World Romania at School film club coordinators, AdDOC is the only documentary film festival in Romanian high schools. Adolescents choose the documentaries and theme of the festival each year, and come together to develop together all the details of an event that takes place simultaneously in over 15 cities in the country: from the manifesto to the program, from the promotion of the event to the Q&A sessions. What brings all of them together is their desire to spread an antidote to indifference and prejudice: documentary films on human rights issues.
